"I see my work as creating life forms, and I work almost exclusively in steel. I like its coldness and hardness, but there is also a softness and flexibility to it. The way it looks, feels and even tastes - it lives for me. I bend it, shape it, grind it, weld it, work it, and it comes to life. It's like steel chose me. I am also attracted to objects and materials with history. Sometimes I look for these objects or materials; other times they find me. I experience a form of dialogue with them. Their original use informs but no longer defines them. In a collaboration of sorts, we arrive at a new form and life."
